This DVD describes the Health Education and Literacy for Parents (HELP) Project, a program designed to support the health literacy needs of parents through short term educational interventions in pediatric waiting rooms.
Staff and trained volunteers conduct activities one-on-one or in small groups that address health information relevant to parents.
The project was developed under the auspices of the NYU School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics at Bellevue Hospital’s Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center.
The DVD is part of an Instructional Package which includes a Training Manual and Training DVD that will be available in the Spring of 2009.
Grant funds for this package was provided by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to the New York City Poison Control Center, a longstanding HELP Project community partner.
